Was coming home this morning when i was hit by a moped!

He wasnt the owner of the bike and scarpered from the scene before the police arrived

I have his plate and the police have all of the mopeds details but cannot verify who was riding the bike

so im left with:

i was just turning into my road... so was doing about 5-10mph

the bike came out of no where.. i stopped.. he couldnt! (edit: his front tyre was bald)

hit the front of me.. went at an angle and just spun over my car. he landed on the pavement.. must've hurt! but he limped off, saying he didnt want the police/insurance to be involved as it was his mates bike!

ive got a few witness (neighbours who saw it)

im hoping i can claim off someone, as its gonna cost a fortune to repair (will write the car off )

given all my statements to the police and they even breathalised me (it read 000)

You have the number plate, now call the insurance. His mate wont take the blame and there will obviously be damage to the bike when he gets a visit, so f**k him.

they seem quite unwilling to do much at the moment and said it could even be my fault! (despite the police report claiming otherwise)

Mopeds are the most annoying things ever, always 16 year old chavs! One more off the road anyway. You should be able to claim off the mopeds insurance if not will be able to take it to the uninsured drivers bureau or what ever its called lol.

TBH I think it's about time the government/traffic police clamped down on mopeds & mini motorbikes.....they seem to be causing a lot of accidents and are usually ridden by c**ks.

WTF has it got to do with the judicial system??? Its hasnt even got to court, LOL!

There may be something the police can do. This n0bber was obviously driving his mates moped, ergo he had no insurance, hence running off after the accident. The police will speak to the registered keeper of the moped. If it turns out he allowed his mate to drive it, he can then be stuck on for "use cause and permit" which means he allowed his mate to ride his bike knowing he had no insurance. He will be prosecuted and you may be able to claim on his insurance that way. If the owner isnt insured then you are shafted.

If he didnt allow his mate to ride it, its aggravated TWOC, the rider will be taken to court (as the owner will have to state who was riding it - if its his 'mate' he might know who took it) and the court can grant you compensation for the damage.

If all else fails, apply to the Motor Insurance Bureau

They specialise in RTIs where the person responsible has no insurance, or fail to stop RTIs. All insurance companies have to contribute and the MIB will award compensation - after a while...

I was sitting right up the arse of a little shitty scooter last night, poor little thing was giong full whack about 50mph. eventually I got bored and just went round him (dual carriageway).

Personally, I think riding food mixers round the streets should be illegal.

I agree with that scooter drivers are a pain in the bum, they think there invincible.

I thought with an L plate on the Scooter it had to be a certain size engine so that it couldn't go over 30mph theres loads around Barnsley that can do double that.
