As some of you may know, I have a chequered roof atm, like so:

For a while, I have been considering the idea of doing the roof and bonnet in gloss black. I know it wont be to everyones taste, but I think it looks pretty mean and I rly like it.

Had a go on photoshop but couldnt get it to look glossy. Still, it gives you an idea of how it would look.

It would only be done it vinyl so it could all be returned to standard for selling etc. What do you reckon on the idea? Better or worse than the squares?

If anyone could do a better photoshop of it using and of my pics please feel free.

For some reason, the chequered roof doesnt look right on yours, dont kno why but i think it could be you have to much black goin around on the car,

Iv done the chequered roof myself, and the comments i have had about it is suprisigly well, its different and people kno its me coming since it low and the chequered is visible,..

Have you had a price to do the bonnet and roof like that? would think its about £100+ for a vinyl

In real life everyone i speak to likes the roof (on here is a different story lol), And yea most people know my car by as the clio with the chequered roof lol.
I think it ties in ok with the silver and black theme, was just after a change rly.

Im getting quotes at the minute, and someone I know works as a sign writer so he is gna get a price for me too.

Lol i thought about the bootlid, not sure how id vinyl the catch etc tho, unless i got one from a van instead

Btw chris, have you changed your bulbs inside the rear lights to double filement?

no, theyre the standard ones i think, why?

watch out if you get a tight ass speed cop, i got £30 fine on the spot, as they wernt bright enough, costed like £8-10 to replace every bulb in the back ffs,

:S Really? Just had the MOT with them on and they passed with no problems.
Its cool tho, im in the process of customising some new lights so wont be a problemo in a week or so (assuming I like the new ones once they go on)

I like the black roof and bonnet idea, Would be better if it didnt have a sunroof though.

For me to pull it off i would have to have the plastics colour coded and lower it a lot.

Dont think it works with the sunroof there to be honest. Save your money and colorcode your car instead. lower it, rs grille etc and change those lights

Cheers for the feedback, Im not gna colour code (except door-handles) as it needs some black to break up all the silver imo. Over summer I might have a go at doing the as much of the black plastics as i can in gloss black.

If the rear light Ive ordered ever turn up then the lights are gna be changed, but I still kinda like them.

I think I am going to leave the roof as it is tbh, would only really be worth the moolah if it was much better than atm, as its well expensive.The chequers look pretty good for a cheap DIY mod I reckon

Think the current roof looks wicked mate, not my sort of styling at all, wouldnt normally be telling you how s**t i think it looks, but think it suits your car really well.

I'd leave it, plastic strips too as they go well with the diamond, wheels etc.

No offence mate but if you have a full black roof and bonnet then you can colour code as it'd look a bit too much like a Zebra.

Not a fan of the chequers though

hmm yea, your are probs right about needing to colour code it with the black roof & hood, but that would be even more money, so im probs just going to leave it as it is. Student budget ftl.
