hole needing filled. how?

got a tailgate fairly cheap today. only problem being there was a brakelight in it. which i didnt want.

whats the best way to do this?

welding on a sheet of steel then filler?
using fiber-glass strips then filler?
anything else?

too late. ive fitted the ph3 one (it was the right colour).

saves spending ages sanding the inside down and spraying that when i only need to get this done and the outer sprayed that way.

lol, easyer to spray the whole thing IMO and more chance of a colour match that way
