Holograming

Today my pal asked me to come round and have a look at his (pearl i think) black fiesta and he admitted to me that he had been to the car wash (which i was devistated about lol) so what can only be described as MAJOR holograming on his car, not sure if anyone on here is familiar with this but i thought i would ask i here. How the feck do you get rid of MAJOR holograming? honestly the car is a state has straight scratches and also has very deep swirls which to be honest i have no idea what product/pad combination to use. Paints a real mess and of course he has asked me to sort it out. I have never seen a car so bad so i have a feeling this is going to take me days to get rid of. Anybody had to do this before? I am going to have a research into this and i am going upto dave kg next month so i am seeing if anyone can help me out on here before i go up and rack dave's machine polishing mind.

Machine polishing is the only way to remove, judging by what you've put Callum.

Hologramming is usually down to a bad finish after PCing.

Yeah I echo as usual what Jamie said holograming is usually caused by bad pc'ing (bodyshop buffer) Not a thing a professional would miss tbh.

hes never had the car done before he said he has taken it to a car wash and i think he has had some respraying done aswell actually so that could be the cause, taken it to a bad bodyshop, i have no idea on what grits to use etc

Doesn't need wet and dry flatting fella. That would only be for deep scratches.

Hologramming would probably come out with something simple like final finish or Lime Prime, but via pad.

Any usual correction method would work, saying this without seeing the car is hard tho.

next time i am up i will take some pictures, it looks very deep though so not sure, suppose i will need to try a few things and see how it goes, really need a garage to work in

If you use a PC and you dont break the polish down correctly youll end up having a car that looks like that.

Using a DA will make life easier getting rid of that s**t.

Yea I looked at the photos on dw and it's definately marring but it's so much worse than that pic honestly it's so so so bad , I am gonna need to have a crack at it but it does have straight line scratches aswell

It can be either polish/compound not broken down and finished down properly (by a noob!) or wax not buffed off properly. It's more likely to be the polish though, by some rogue valeter or a s**t bodyshop

yea its like a mixture of hologramming and the scratches that paul had on his car, and doesnt seem that its going to be as easy a job as everyone is making out, will need some very high grit compounds to remove the scratching, i never said i would wetsand it who said that ?

hologramming winds me up! boosh saw how bad mine was at a meet ages ago after i let a mate polish my car most of it came out with alot of super resin polish

Doubt you will need anything strong mate. Wouldn't suprise me if FF got it off. You only need to remove very little microns with hologramming in my experiance. Dont be worried about it anyway, just do what you normally do and it should go.
