I have a PC conencted to a home hub via wireless usb dongle - no issues at all.

The problem is with my Dell laptop.

I can search for connections and have good signal (4/5 bars) but when i connect i need a passkey or something.

On the PC it shows the kep next ot the home hub symbol (somethnig like: 12-g4-45-f5-76)

Is this what i need to get connected to the home hub wireless or do i need another password?

That looks like the MAC address.
You need either the WEP or WPA key.. sometimes, they have it printed on the bottom of the unit?

On the home hub, there are 2 bits of paper stuck on there. One is for BT Fusion (the mobile phone that uses Wi-fi) the other is the WEP (it should say WEP)

It is case sensitive...give it another go, make sure that it is YOUR Home hub and not your neighbours!!!

They are prone to having serious issues though, used to have one before I went with cable!

ah cool.. so the web key is on the bottom fo the hub!

I'm not at home at present but i'll check it out later and see what happens.

Yeah this home hub was s**t not working but BT sent a new one and it has been 100% on the wireless forthe PC. Only just had a go with the laptop.

I'll update later on! :D

No worries, just watch those routers, they are crap in all honesty...hence why they're free. ;)

another way you could have done it, is log into the router via your browser on the pc thats connected already and it should tell you your wpa/wep key!
