  Fabia vrs tdi
hot air blowing from the left of the air filter next to the engine

i have asked someone on here and they said its not meant to be doing that and it did seem strange as if something was loose on the filter or there abouts

bloody car is starting to annoy me and cause me problems its depressing

nope it wasnt spinning, i noticed hot air from that area when i stopped because the car over heated due to not enough anti freeze in coolant, it felt like it was coming from around the plenium or whatever its called

i dont know too much about cars but will be checking it tomorrow but just to make sure maybe someone could check theres, but there was alot of hot air coming from there and it was idle and freezing cold outside

it does seem weird but it did have a full service last month and maybe the garge didnt put everything back together properly just like it seems they topped up my coolant with water to make it freeze

bonnet was up, how else could i feel hot air coming from next to the filter box, i dont know what the thing to the left of the filter is before the engine but it was blowing just next to that

Thought you meant from the general direction of the box. I get heat vapour coming from my front grill on occassion (water on rad most likely)

thermostat? is there a leak in the cooling system?

dont think there is a leak anywhere

i will check tomorrow and let you know, it was very cold today and could have been heat from radiator but it did feel as if it was blowing hot air from this area,

will take a pic tomorrow of where its coming from if its still there, im hoping its nothing serious.

it might have always been there but does seem down on power at the usual 5k kick so might be a problem with the intake

get a sponge with lots of foamy water, place the foam here and there, in the places where you feel the air coming from. You'll get big bubbles in any place that has an air leak. Kinda like what you do when you are working with a gas line (LP or natural, as in stove or furnace).

I had another look and i think it was coming from the radiator, but when i checked yesterday the radiator fan wasnt on and could still feel what felt like hot air blowing. Will need to check again when its hot and fan is off.
Checked oil cap again all looks okay was a little bit of white stuff but could barely notice or maybe im lookin for things that aint there lol.
Just always panic when slightest things goes wrong but put it all down to frozen coolent and will ignore it unless it happens again

When you took it to the garage, did they say they replaced the coolant? what service did it have?
unless the garage is very doggy then they would of put in coolant.

sounds like the car was just really hot and it would be, you would feel heat everywhere in these cold months. remember a engine runs around 80-90 degree's C.

power should be up at the moment due to the cold temperatures, more cold/dense air mean more power...... sounds like something could well be wrong!

hope this helps
