Lesson 1) Buy cars with long MOT's
I imagine the bloke who did the work, was very happy indeed.
MOT, Service ended up costing me £841
Coolant, battery, rear brake drums, shoes, cylinder, bearings, fluid.. track rod, steering rack boot.
I've had three cars this year, all three have had MOT and services this year. All three have been costly!
Merry Christmas!
Do people no longer work on their own cars?
Each time I've tried a new garage, never really trusting the previous.
Well I replaced the hazard light switch myself preMOT, I was kind of in a rush to get it passed for MOT as it was late and I also needed to get the road tax sorted!
The mini breakdown I have noted is
Drums/Shoes/Cylinders/Rear Brakes = £419.10
Battery = £67.50
Coolant = £50
Steering Rack = £80
MOT = £45
Full Service = £180
Crazy money to run an old car, that's 4 months on a lookers deal on a 200.
GO TO A SPECIALST, we're around for a reason! We know what we're doing (alledgely! LOL) and we don't rip people off, i'm actually upset you've paid that, its criminal
if you say "there isn't anyone local" that's no excuse, i get people driving down from scotland to Birmingham for servicing
I took my 182 down to RenTech, I'm happy with them. Just it means having to make a day of it.
I only took the car to hiQ because I was desperate to get the MOT sorted as both that and the tax had run out!
I will make sure i learn from this...
I'll post up the invoice later, you can tell me what was overpriced
