How do i find out my engine no

Im not being stupid am I?

Where can i find the engine number of my clio? My insurance company needs it? Ive got the VIN number. Is it on the plate in the engine bay?

Any ideas?

Tell em if they want to get the number they better come round and find it themselves. The only time I ever saw my engine number was with the engine out. If I remember right its a tag on the front of the block. Basically theres no way of seeing it without a lot of the engine ancillaries removed or the engine lifted out entirely. Tell em that.

Havent you got a record of it on the V5 or in the service book?
