If i had the money, i'd buy it off you now...
but unfortunately i don't, so my dreams of owning a V6 are still a million miles away!

You paid a high premium for the car, just as the market was / is about to nose dive-
Your looking at a very Niche Market at the moment-
Personally I would put it on EBay- You will 100% sell it for about 8.5/9k-
Not what you want to here- but it wont sell on PS-
If i were you I would ensure it has a LONG TAX, a years MOT & Maybe the cambelt change if its due ( Check Mileage) -
Then if its a Minter it may well command a 10/10.5 k price tag-
Otherwise your lumbered with it-
The most ID give you for it is 8k-

I'd saved enough for a Vee, the plan was to buy one of these on my 30th
Unfortunately the funds have totally been reserved for more important things now, I'm sure I'm not the only person in this position at the mo to be holding back / missing out on purchases of this nature. The Vee is an enthusiasts car, it's about as practical for an everyday transport as space hopper for most people so as you know and as it's been said you've got a restricted market..
I still think with a good service history you'll get a good whack of your money back.
Mostly the previously bent cat d's are going for £8k-£9k not the FSH A1 ones
Steve - I have to say i'm a bit disappointed with your valuations bud, ok yeah it's not a nice time to trey to shift a vee, however if every one priced them up as you have they second hand vee market would crash & they would be worth sweet fa so to speak.
As RichRsi just said, ones for 8-9k are mainly cat d's. A ropey mk1 vee is about 10k - probably not even with it's cambelt done either, it will be on 40k+ and it'll have a high number of owners. The nicer examples do fetch a premium.
I don't believe that the market is as bad as you make it out to be really. Granted folk will not get as much as they had hoped for, but I doubt they would have to accept as little as your suggesting.
tbh on the V6 forum there are a few new members, the only people who the current market will affect are petrolheads who are stretching their budget to get a Vee and will be put off. People who can afford one will not care about the increase in Tax and petrol as yearly it wont affect them that much, extra £200 in road tax and a bit more on fuel. They bought the Vee knowing about repair prices etc before purchasing the car anyway.
Have to agree with Cat on this one that prices may not be as optimistic as hoped but i cant foresee a crash. If someone can afford to buy the Vee and maintain it they will still buy one irrespective of the current economic climate.
I can understand saving thats fair enough but how much would you save towards a deposit by not owning a Vee? A difference of a few grand in a deposit wont make the blindest bit off difference. But in terms of monthly cashflow a Vee could possibly affect that.
Newms's mk1 mint mk1 vee was up for about 12.5k iirc, I don't think he'd have took a 2k hit on it.
Fair play Steve, I know what your saying & where your coming from.
Yeah that's the ad from when I was looking for mine. He did take it off then re advertised it a bit later on, price was 12.5k iirc.

Remember Little Newms car was sold I THINK for around 10500-
that was Minter than Mint-

Thats my car mate as wasnt that cheap lol had 10k miles and was/is absolutely mint, still only on 15k
I would have no worries spending a premium on a mk1 in good condition
I'm glad I'm not selling mine.
i can see the price of them dropping quite a bit until they become affordable to the current market who buy your cheap Scooby/Evo and that type. This will then see alot of them with little maintenace and care coupled with alot of write offs making mint examples more sought after and therefore expensive.
But until then the second hand market doesn't look good. I can see Vee's being picked up for as little as 6K within 2 years and wouldn't expect prices to rise for at least 5-10 years for mint examples.

James has the car for sale at £11k here
I understand his reason for needing to sell (company car, marriage) IMO someone will be getting a very good car at a bargain price. James certainly isn't one of the many buy it and sell it when it needs a set of brake pads type owners.
Sadly with the MK 1 there have been too many try it for a month owners whos desperation to sell at a loss hasn't helped the true value of these cars. I agree with ddouble, a cherished MK 1 will be worth a lot more than the MK 2 many years from now. If I had room I would grab a bargain now.
Good luck with the sale James.
