If they are on their feet they would have both blocked the installation of the software, and also locked the port on the firewall to block potential access.
Oh and Meebo gets my vote as well, been using it for a while now.

And if they have device control you'd be screwed as everything you do will be logged
Also if they are again on their feet you won't be able to install it locally, but even if you install it on the flash drive and try to run it if your IT dept have done their job properly you shouldn't be able to run unauthorised programs from flash drives
Also if they have web filtering etc I'm guessing that they'll be logging your browsing history as well.
lol I love the state of paranoia that IT gets people in.
I work in IT for a company employing 500 people, and let me tell you. Theres too much to do too worry about people using messenger, or searching through peoples history.
The only time we've ever looked at someone because they managed to single themselves out on the network by crippling the leased line by downloading files, listening to the radio, and watching streaming video's.
We requested permission from HR to monitor his activity, and upon looking deeper we found he seemed to have a penchant for viewing gay p**n sites, when he decided to stay late. So we left a polite notice on his desk the next day stating could he please be more vigilant when viewing websites, next to it we left a copy of the IT policy, highlighting apt parts.
Anyway he got the message, and left the job a month or so later lol.
Like I said though folk in IT are more worried about infrastructure and server/client issues that monitoring people.

lol, gay porno at work what was he thinking!
Thery whined about it. If they were using the latest version of MSN its pointless blocking ports as it will search for other open ports or switch to using 80 which you cant lock down.
