By leaving your bluetooth switched on, I think. Lad at work has a bluetooth dongle thing with a 100m range, if people phones aren't passkey protected its easy.

No doubt a "proper expert" will shoot me down in flames saying thats not it.

I'm not sure about claims that some phones can simply be got into... but as marksman says there are certain phones (notably Samsungs) that when you send them a file they insist on actually pairing with your phone, and what people don't realise is their phone is then browsable from the other phone, often without even indicating on the screen that something is happening!

Yeah that's what's happening. He was sending me a vid from his Samsung d500, so I had to pair devices with him, and since then he can just go into my phone and take what he likes. No request for authorisation or anything. My screen doesnt even light up!

^ delete the pairing !

Yeah I will be doing that!
I just did a search for this and found out how to bluejack at parties/on buses etc. Basically, you go into your phonebook and create a new contact, except you name the contact "hi, how are you" or something. You then click "more", select "send contact details via bluetooth" then search for devices. Send it to the one you fancy and voila, you are paired with them. Then you can browse their files.
Pretty scary (If it is that simple)
