How do you change brake disks.?

  Shhh
On a 182, assume its the pad changing guide with a little more too it.

What tools will i need to change the disks over, assume i need to push the pistons well back into the callipers, anyone had any issues with doing this.?

Car is in need of some new front disks.

  CS Dungeon
Wheel off
2 x T30 iirc Torx bolts hold disc onto Hub

Fit new disc
2 x T30 iirc Torx bolts
Fit Wheel

Done

I don't even have the torx bolts on mine, the wheel bolts hold the disc in place.

Easier to remove the disc after thousands of miles too!

I had an issue with a semi siezed calliper but it shouldnt be an issue with a "young" car.

  Shhh
Issued come when you change a wheel....

Not want to be in that position thanks..

Ill have a look..

Also, whats this squeel plate for, thats gotta come off, car goes...squeeeeeelll.

Not quite, you need to remove the caliper too to get the disc off

Bin the squeel plate its a waste.
Not having those torque bolts doesn't matter doesn't take any longer to fit a wheel if the brakes doesn't have them.

  Shhh
Squeel plate is the issue at the moment.

Get a squeel from the wheels as disks are below manuf spec, tho has just had new pads fitted. If i can stop the squeel im safe. Disks are 278mm when min spec from renault is 280mm.? or something along that. Know its not far below manuf spec so not too much worry on it so far.

Needs new rear pads as car was said to be low, assume thats as simple as the front, was trying to get the rear pads changed when i get tyres on the front..maybe work out a nice deal...

knock the disc off with something big.

refit new disc.

refit new pads and calliper (don't forget copper grease)

mug of tea. done.

nb. do the other side too. ;)

apart from having to buy them with the bearing and abs ring kit, is it same procedure for rears too ?

No rears are different

Have to remove teh front half of the cxaliper, remove hub nut and pull disc off (hub puller might be required), then wind back piston on caliper and refit it all

I always use a big G clamp to get the pistons back in...very easy to just wind them back in:D

Gone with some Ferodo F558's or F588's in the rear from halfords for £13.79.

Well thats what the man said will fit on the computer..

thanks for that, but I'm only a cheapo pony-spec forum user, so am unable to view the file!

I have a haynes manual, have done the rears recently; anything I need to know about changing the front padss? Can the pistons be wound in like the rear ones?
