I tend to just boot mine from cold, I will most likely have changed it for something else by this time next year as I get bored of cars quite fast so engine life doesn’t really worry me.

magic!!!!

Thats a water temp gauge though. That has nothing to do with the oil temp.
I find that the water comes upto temp in about 5 mins, oil takes alot longer.

monkeh boy.....so how do you know its up to temp?(warmed up)
theres a temp guage so i use it ,is this wrong?
its the temp of the engine so therefore the temp guage,
do you just guess????????????or what? when they refer to the temp guage, wot does this guage represent ?

^^ the meter that comes wif ya car is a water temp meter. unless you had fitted an oil temp gauge, you will not be able to tell the oil temp based on the water temp meter reading. water temp rises much faster than oil temp. a good est is to drive like miss daisy for abt 15 mins before you really wanna give it some stick. then again, if ya change car every year....why bother, wack it at cold!

You should pussy-foot your engine too much when it is new or it will go slower. Also the rev limiter will kick in on lower RPM when the engine is cold.

I rag my car most of the time. Its only a 1.2, but for the city driving i do most of the time its plenty fast enough for me. Wont really take it above 3500rpm for about 10mins or so. But if pulling out on traffic, even when its just started i whack it round to 6000rpm.

Its been running great just lately too, feels really responsive and quick even for a 1.2, it has just been serviced and i hit 20,000miles in it the other day. And most of those miles are hard driving.

I see it as i am getting it out of my system while i am young, then when i can afford the fast cars i want, i will of calmed down a bit and use the speed and power sensibly! Yeah righto!!!
