How fast??? SPEED SPEED SPEED!

M

muchty_massive

How fast should my 1.2 16v go? Mine tops out at 111mph, if I put an induction kit or an exhaust on it what would they be likely to put it up 2?

No more matey. Get a Powerflow or something you may squeeze 112! seriously an IK does nothing for performance on a 1.2 especially. don't expect 120!!

Yeh i know, i know..........but I can dream......

I'd focus on handling because that is an area you can really improve. Maybe think about coilovers, you'll notice that on a 1.2 instead of trying to gain a higher top speed. which the 1.2s aren't meant for

111mph on the speedo not 111mph in real life.

Different 1.2 go to different top speeds depends on how big the hill is how long you've kept your foot down for.

But yerself a wind sock, that way you can determine its direction and get the wind behind you:rasp:

You can't use improved top speed on the road.

You can use improved acceleration.

You can use improved grip.

When I realised that it made me realise how much money I'd wasted hotting up road cars to produce more top end horsepower, which usually meant less mid-range torque.

youll get a slightly better return wi a zorst and filter, marginal

id get some springs on it, apex's come up on the forum, or if your flush get the coileys from FK, theres a group buy on them at the mo.

speak to john at 2modified.com for them

I had my 16v at 115 on the clock, took an absolute age. Bump an extra 5psi into the tyres, tape up the spaces between the body panels, fold in the wing mirrors and remove the aerial. Who knows, 120?

A hill will help. I've seen over 120 indicated on mine and mines only 65hp

Most I had out of mine was 112mph..never again though...as I was doing it I was thinking what the f()ck am I doing..:dapprove: ..Then a month later I write my car off..you live and learn.

lol.... if you save up and think about speed when you've got an RS...[/quote]

hahah speed in a rs?? where please tell me!! and anyways its not how fast u can go its how fast u get there!!!!!:rasp:

Mine does 115mph.......... on the clock gets to 110 quite easily, then its a matter of taking a fortnights holiday.
However, i ve since got a Garmin Nuvi gps satnav for Christmas, and this shows how badly the speedo is out. 100MPH indicated in the Clio is 93.5MPH on the gps. Having said this I think the speedo is optimistic on all cars (my dads A6 reads 110MPH on the clock and 104MPH on the gps). All the above was conducted on my own private test track!!

Yeah I noticed how gps give a different reading to the car. My mates car was doing 100 the other day and that said about 95. The guy that comes to his workplace also goes past a speedcamera on the m4 at 55mph and the speed limit is 50mph. If he had the gps that would probably show 50mph so you can that the cars might be out. Or maybe the speedcamera doesnt work properly.

Speed cameras have certain tolerances I believe, but the government, in their wisdom are looking to reduce these. I think all car speedos over read to some extent.

Lol, I wouldn't have thought real no, indicated yes.

My mates seen 183 or so KMPH on the GPS once before now in my car (was over 180 I forget the exact value its about 113 or so mph) that about 127 indicated judging what 120 indicated is. But thats down some hills.
