How fecking good is F.E.A.R?!

Only just started in properly - now that my PC can run it at a decent rate. Some really neat effects in it and far, far more unnerving than any of the Doom/Quake games.

I know I'm way behind the times on this one, but for those of you who haven't tried it - you should!

The orignal was the reason i updated my Graphics card as the one i had didnt run it... i love the slow mo thing and just shooting people in the head. I have recently played FEAR combat, need to install it again since i restarted my Windows.

Love the game, should really get the Add on Pack but saving for GTR2

Brilliant game though it does eat system resources. I completed it before they brought out the second patch for it and it since then won't work with anything that has stuff like download managers etc.

Tried reinstalling it and now when it does play (without any sound) about 10 seconds in I get stuck as part of a garbage bin and then end up off the map.

And their tech support is useless

You're probably right there, m8. But on it's first run - I'd say the bits of FEAR I've seen so far are more enjoyable than Quake 4. Maybe Q4 has more replay value though.

I'd just completed 'Brother in Arms : Earned in Blood' yesterday and wanted to try another FPS game. I'd recently got the FEAR expansion as well, so I thought best to start FEAR from the very beginning....

RSi Dave - just get GTR2, m8. It's a superb game. At the moment, there's only BenR and myself clocking in some lap times!

Awesome game, As a FPS only bettered by original Half Life and Farcry imho (not played HL2 yet)

Slow-mo is just simply amazing, great action, decent involving story and I'm liking it 2nd time arround although I'm playing it on maxium difficulty, the A.I is very vert smart

Yep - running it on XP64 m8. No probs at all. I just stuck on the v1.08 patch straight after and it ran fine. The Expansion needs v1.07 before it will work anyway.

Rasclart - what are you trying to say? I'm on "fookin' ard 10-men" difficulty. I'm just so goddamn good at it that the game rewards me with several medipaks along the way.... :clown:

i'm sorry but FEAR is much better thank quake and farcry... half life 2 - about on par at least i'd say. if you run it at full whack you'll never say farcry is better than this.

I wonder if this is why it's not so popular? All these Keyboard Kommandos giving it large and then they crap themselves on something like this! It does do a great job of making you sh1t yourself at times, though....

Only my opinion but despite FEAR being awesome for many things, its not in same class as Farcry, Farcry has a better story, more immersive, more random, less predictable, no reliance on "samey" corridors and certainly less linear/scripted, also better graphics engine too, its also twice as long and then some............. you can also play most maps several times each totally different plan of attack too

But FEAR is awesome for sheer combat and the full on relentless action, for that alone its prob best shootemup definitely

Bit behind myself too, about half way throught FEAR and so far its been awesome. The spooky effects are awesome and slow-mo never gets boring, nailing someone with a shotgun at close range in slowmo is one of the best things in the game .

Though i'm about to start playing HL2:Episode 1 so it'll probably get put on the backburner for a bit again.

Molly was such a sweet little girl. Doing all the things little girls like to do. Playing with dolls, playing at shop, wanting a little pony all of her own, setting conflagurations of fire onto unsuspecting spec-ops teams. Her parents hoped it was just a 'phase' she was going through...:clown:

I need the original of FEAR, I managed to download FEAR Extraction Point at the weekend but didnt realise it was an add on pack and I cannot find the original game anywhere.

Im no gaming geek but I do enjoy the point and blow the f**k out of everybody games and this does look good

it's annoying getting the dowenloaded one working to be honest, the securom stuff on it is pretty stuff even with daemon tools/alcohol emulation. best to use the real thing and not use your backup

Securom wasnt an issue last time I downloaded a game mate, granted that was ages ago.........may of been C&C Generals when it was released, thats how often I play/download games lol
