how good is this for a 1.2!



  2002 172
had a little race with my mates the other day and i were roughly about the same time as the 1.4 when crossing the line, the 1.6 wasnt that much faster.
mines a 1.2 16v with mods and the other 2 are a 1.4 16v and a 1.6 16v standard we were all thrashing it an all!
what bhp are they both?

its 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 for a reason, i doubt very much the 1.6 wasn't different to your 1.2

Your 1.2 16v standard 75bhp, the 1.4 98bhp, the 1.6 16v 110bhp....what mods you got on the 1.2 mate?

i used to be able tokep up with the 1.4 in my old 1.2 but thta hada lot of mods, rr'd at just under 90, stripped, buckets, etc

A legal race on private land. induction kit, exhaust, home made decat, remapped ecu and stripped out, no spare wheel or awt. when i bought the car it came with the induction kit on it and he said some engine work had been done to it but duno what sort.

Mate the 1.6 8v's aint much for a 1.6....my dynamique was pretty well set up and it could hold of my mates C2 VTR on the twisties without much problems....

when my mate with the 1.6 clio goes up a hill i have no chance ov catching him up but on flat mines alrite i suppose.
so does anyone know where you can take your car for dyno testing in west yorkshire?
are them g-tec pro meters still on offer?
 
W reg 1.6 would more than likely be a 16v. the 1.6 8v will make a STANDARD 1.2 16v look silly, but with what he's got i'm not surpirsed he can keep up. 16v clio was yours a 1.2 or 1.4 dynamique? the 1.4 dynamiques do keep up with the 1.6 8v. As for holding onto a C2 VTR, thats no surpirse, i test drove one and i found the gearbox to be shite.

Oh and one last thing, the g-techs BHP measurements are about as accurate as chavish maxpower BHP figures

16v engines were put in the mainstream normal clio models from W plate, my mums W plate alize is 1.4 16v.
You've prob got more speed than normal but i've driven a 1.2 16v(std) and its terrible compared to the 1.4 16v.. (but the 1.2 did have 15's and the 1.4 has 14's so helps with acceleration)

do u mind me asking andy, how much was the ecu remapp, how much brake roughly has your 1.2 16v got now then, i was thinking how bout the remap but thoguht that not much gains could have been made.

ben, how much bhp did u get out of it, from standard, and also how much u get from just the remap, how much was the remap, hope u dont mind me asking

car was 89 bhp, re map was 200, it flt alot better with my mod list more sorting the fuel out as it was crazy with my mods, a re map on its own wouldnt do much my friend
 
ah cheers for that ben, always been thinking of doing a remap, but i guess il do other mods first then see how it goes cheers mate

i duno how much bhp it has got i wana get it tested somewhere but dont know where 2 go. bhp is probs around "ben P's". mi cars just had aload ov new sensors and a new wiring harness in engine so that probs helps like a service.
Ive got some funny green magnets on ma fuel line and never taken them off but does anyone know what they do, they look like a modification.

lol there off qvc or summet ment to save fuel they just stop it from gettin through

ben - was yours a custom remap, or a generic off the shelf? been thinking of one to increase my fuelling at higher rpm to make it run nicer, but dunno if its a waste of money. almost certainly is, but ive gone past caring lol

lol dont think i'll be bothering with a 172 tbh, not until i get some ncb on my insurance :D
