My old "rolled" 172 is out there sumwhere.... most was left intact apart from the shell and a few other bits n piecesQuote: Originally posted by 172loony on 03 October 2003
if you were getting it cheap and could find a rolled 172 with engine gearbox etc all intact for a good price then i guess it wouldnt be too bad but i wouldnt bother if the car you were fitting it in was brand new would be a waste

The biggest problem is finding a 172 that gives out......172BHP!! very few do standard.

They all give 172bhp mate. The fact of the matter is that everyone has relied on rolling roads to estimate flywheel figures.
This has been covered time and time again and Im sick of it.
Rolling roads are not penis size measurers, they are tuning aids!
Its a well known fact that they dont give the full 172... as you said its been covered a thousand times
All the RR days ive been on none of them have given the full deal, unless moddd, and then some fell short.
mine was only 163 standard and 180 on the same road after zorst,IK & chip.
As for tuning aids.... they are for judging how well a mod is performing or as you say tune it in....so a good idea of the output it gives. BEFORE and after.

from 163 to 180 with those mods? Sounds a bit optimistic.
I had to have the ECU remapped for the PiperX Viper...infact it only gave 158with the mods before being chipped.Quote: Originally posted by Neil82cup on 05 October 2003
