How have you secured your sub?

Just looking to see how everyone has secured their sub in their boot, pics would be great.

Was going to get some mdf to make a false floor and then screw (??) my sub onto this.

Cheers

Mine is secured by loads of other random s**t thrown in the boot with it :) stops it from moving about lol

I've just used a load of velcro. Going to screw it down properly though as I've seen pics of crashes where an unsecured sub has flattened the rear seats and ended up at the front...

once upon a time in an old car, i had mine bolted through the boot floor..
The thieving gits still got it!

Its not just the thieving gits you should worry about, its Newton’s third law, the one that says For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

If you were unfortunate enough to crash into something, your airbag would probably save your head going into the steering column, the seat restraints would probably stop you going through the screen, the cars crumple zones and controlled deformation would save your legs, then your subwoofer would take your head off.

yeh i agree with brianr lol, i dont really worry about mine being nicked its when you chuck the car about and it getting lauched around... ive tied mine down with rope and it doesnt move a centimetre :D also jamming it again the seat helps too.

Yeah it's complete now but I'm waiting on perspex to finish it off

Install work is on the back burner for now as I'm changing to a 172, but I will get a few preview pics up before I change my car ;)

Was thinking the false floor would need to be bolted to the boot to
the boot anyway to stop the whole thing from flying off, so prob just gonna bolt the sub straight to the boot floor.

Will pop down to b&q at the weekend, how long do you recon the bolts need to be?

ok just got in and opened my nice new sub :)

Didn't realise 4 gauge was that thick! Are there any guides on installing amps? Just need to know what I need to take the trim apart so I can run the cables through.

Hope it stays dry tomorow...

Just got my new 182, used to have a pug gti180, aint had much time to look around the car but i no that in the pug i used 2 hook screws into the back of the seats, then cable tied the sub down with some thick cable ties, this way the seat folded forward still and the sub was still attached and not the end of the world to take out when you have to pick the family up from the air port at 3 in the mornin

i made a false floor in 4 parts, covered in acoustic material, and the sub was screwed sideways from the floor, the parts of the floor could be pulled up very wasily around the spare wheel to get it in and out etc, but once the floor was it it looked impossible to get out because of my smart planning...lol

definatley secure it down, dont take chances with that, you never know what could happen, i spent one saturday afternoon doing mine, well worth it.

also as said make sure you have the tools you put it in with to take it out if u get a flatty, just plan it properly before hand and youll have no problems.

heres mine....

Velcro isnt going to do anything in a big accident. My 15 inch kicker stayed in the boot after my accident, think it was just too damn big to move anywhere lol

I drilled a hole, painted it and used a big ass bolt to secure it to the floor, mind you I was considering competing and needed to over safety everything

I have a false floor and its screwed down on some hinges. It doesnt move at all, no matter how hard I throw it into a corner.
