how is insurance worked out?

Folks I did an insurance check on my 1.2 TCE and I got a quote from Tesco of £900 (2 years driving 2 years NCB 21 male). I then did a check on a 182 and got a quote for £1,200 which is surprising as it has twice as much bhp and its alot lighter I thought it would have been alot dearer.. anyone any ideas how insurance is worked out? these prices are fully comp under my own name with no other named drivers.

Value of the car yeah, also cost of the bits to repair it.

Well if every other detail is the same, milage postcode use driver ect, the only diff would be the value.

I bet if u did a 04 182 vz a 04 1.2 there would be alot more differance.
