How Long Till I PC After Respray?

  VRS
ive just collected the car from the bodyshop :D

how long should i wait untill i pc the reprayed areas? i dont want to do it too early if the paint isnt fully set/hardened

cheers

andy

ps will i be ok with ssr's on the new paint?

  VRS
sheesh dude thats longer than i thought lol

i was thinking a few days hehe

will i be ok hand super resining and waxing sooner? i need some protection for the paint :D

well IIRC srp is an abrasive polish - as it should be otherwise it really be doing anything. As its abrasive i wouldnt even use that, not 100% on the waxing side of things. I would be tempted to wax it but not without checking with the master first

  ST on the way...
When I had some bits done on my Renault 5 I was told to wait about a month before polishing.

Didn't have to PC back then so not sure.

Best of asking the bodyshop.

Polishing is fine though whatever - it is waxing and sealants that are the problem and big no no. Selaing the paint prevents it curing. If however it has been baked properly it may on the other hand be fine to do it now. If not 30 -90 days without sealant/wax.

If this is the case dont use SRP as it it maybe a mild polish but it contains the sealants too. Chances are the parts will have been flatted and polished already but using bodyshop sealant free polishes. Most of the Meguiars pro line polishes are designed to be used on fresh paint.

Knowing the holograms and bad finish most bodyshops leave I would not be suprised!

IMO get them to sort it

to be fair the swirls are only visable when u look carefully in direct sunlight and there is only one bit where i can see holograming but im getting quite anal with my cleaning so would like to sort it lol

A few passes with Megs 80 on a polishing pad may sort it. Do it whenever 80 is bodyshop safe.

SRP is a no no unless they have told you it is baked and safe to seal.

SSR 2 and 2.5 are bodyshop safe and silicone free, so both would be fine.

I would grab some 80 as it looks better than the others if used stand alone if you cant wax it.

If they tell you it fine to wax, use the SSR's as needed and seal.

cheers rich

i will pop in and see them on tuesday :)

im guessing its going to have been fully baked as they are a repair centre and sprayers for peugeot and a few other motor companies in the area and have the spraying buildings and ovens etc

******* UPDATE *********

spoke to the guys at the bodyshop, they said the paint was fully baked and i can use polish seal wax etc etc as soon as i want to :D

they said something along the lines of:
"you only had to wait for months on end for the paint to fully harden before you could use polishes, sealants and waxes back in the days of cellulose based paints (or something along those lines) but these days with the paint they use and the way they bake it, its fine to do it as soon as its handed back over to the customer"

happy days :D
