How Long to change a clutch cable

G_F

  BMW M3 & Williams 3
About an hour.

Fred/edde and the like could probably pull it through in 30 minutes.

oooooooo only an hour? how much are the clutch cables then? how do you know maz it needs changing mate is it stiff

thats not too bad then might get this done cos mine is stiff as old boots!!! but only after travelling up and down for a while like in traffic!!!

sorry...how long do these normal last with normal driving? and also is that price from renault is it cheaper elsewhere?

My Brother and I did my cable last Sunday, I can't really comment on how long it should take, all I can say is next time it will be MUCH quicker, and hopefully I will not suffer so much with sunburn.

All I can say is it was well worth it, as I now have a very smooth clutch action.

Lifespans difficult to say can be 10k can be 300k.
Only use the Renault official ones not worth using cheaper usless copy cat parts.
thats not to bad is it really for the money involved!!! are the clutches normally quite good on the 172 then?
Depends how there used, abused and no toe heal them don't last long 30k they can die use in traffic kills them abuse though with toe heal etc they last ages.
sorry to high jack but what about on a 1.2 16v?
Bit quicker as there more space.

Forgot to say, the clutch cable design seems to have changed from the one I took off my 182.

It now has two large, heavy weights on the cable at the gearbox end, I suspect these weights surpress any vibration along the cable.

RS's do have a heavy clutch anyway compared to some cars, does make your leg ache in heavy traffic.

Hairy muff, not much else that comes close for the money though unless you're going down a different route of car or something older.

To be fair though, it's only going to depreciate so if you want something else then theres no point sitting on it.... So to speak ;)
