sh*te,mine was awful, now my coilovers r on the way.it will be alrite to start wid but it will knacker yr shocks eventually.

The expensive part will be getting the torsion bar lowered unless you can do it yourself.....

Personally, I wouldnt go lower than about -30mm on standard shocks.

^^what Tom_16v said!

Even wilth uprated shocks, i think most people acknowledge about a 35/40mm drop to be the best for handling as any lower would throw camber out etc. Also think about speed-bumps - the 16v is pretty low anyway aint it? ;)

Yeah, a slightly lower front is best.

I had my springs fitting, then torsion bar lowered to match. After about a week of the springs settling down, the front was a nice couple of mm lower than the back.

Like its been said before dont go much lower than 35mm. Thats not a recomendation from but hillpower. The nose should also be lower to keep the traction and balance of the car. My advice is to save up and get coil overs.

Mines lowered 35mm at the front on spings and the torsion bar set to match (slightly higher - only slightly though!!)

Handles ok, the problem I find is the front is stiffer than that back and therefore occasionally a little unpredictable.

Some one I know recomened Gaz rear shocks to sort this out though.

I will eventually go for uprated shocks all round but the standard ones are in good nick for now so no need to rush.
