how many cups are left?

What im more interested in is seeing how many MK 1 172's and FF 172's are still about. Think of it this way, 2392 Cups to start with an now only 2000??
Well thats only about 400 gone in 3 years...

Now of the 4416 FF 172's made, does anyone think that less than 400 have been wiped out in the same amount of time?
I'd say less than 400 with ABS have been written off plus they usualy do more miles.

Being as some insurers won't insure Cups tells you somehting.

It's not just you though, it's everyone else on the roads or conditions etc

I crashed my old 1.2 MK2 on black ice at low speed in a carpark, and ABS would most likely have saved it

ABS does'nt work on ice mate ;)

I think Loony's hit the nail on the head tbh. Its not that the Cup is inherently more dangerous than other 172/182's, its the type of driver who buy's them. Lets say they tend to have a more exuberant driving style. We all know its the quick one....

I'd say its more of a challenging car to drive fast in the wet hence why i tend to not bother driving it fast in the wet at all....just not worth the risk and inevitable regret and screwed insurance.

Those who think they are invincible in their Cup's are just kidding themselves IMO. You maybe quick in the dry but that don't mean you're gonna keep it on the island in the dry!

I think abs isn't all its cracked up to be tbh , i think its abit of a myth that cups crash more cos they don't have abs . I think its more down to bad / careless / inexperienced driving imo .If you drive according to the the conditions abs or not you shouldn't have a problem .

They crash more often as drivers don't take account of the fact they don't have ABS etc to realy on IMO.

Lol @ this old chestnut popping up again. It is all how you drive as has been said...black ice was mentioned but iirc abs would be no good in that situation either. As for the traction control again it is mostly down to the driver. Do you have a switch for a pedal or have to ability to move your foot up and down?

I've had my Cup for 3 1/2 years (although it is a cat d now, no fault of my own lol) and I am definatly not a race driver but I have can't honestly think of a close call or near miss. If it is wet or even just a bit damp I make every effort to leave bigger gaps and brake much earlier. Obviously if it is something like someone pulling out on you then yes abs MAY bail you out (but the danger is people rely on it too much...for the record there are lots of 172/182's coming through the local Breakers so even they aren't invincible)

Damn thats it all Cup drivers are obviously, imcopetent , boyracers that think their invincible as I know I am considering me and my Girlfriend have never had an accident , been pulled or have points in 4 years of driving.

Cup drivers are definatly not invincible or even think that and I definatly have not had a SAXO therfore am not a boyracer!!!!!

If you think a Cups a handful try driving an r5 this time of year:rasp: .
