How many miles on your front pads

  133/225/CLS AMG

Just wondered how many miles people get to a set of front pads.

My 172 has done just over 13,500 miles and Im thinking they should probably be changed. Were 50% worn when I got my first service at about 8500 miles.

What do you get from your brake pads?

I NEVER believe what they tell me at service about brakes. Just got mine back after they said the rear disks and pads were 90% worn and they wanted to do them. I thought Id do them myself, bought the pads came to take the old ones out and realised they were virtually the same thickness as the new ones! I measured the discs and they were virtually new as well.

Thieving buggers!

I take it when you say 50% worn, thats what Renault told you?

I wouldnt believe them if so.

Ive done about 10k miles on my Ferodo DS2500s and theres still enough left.

Had this myself. Warranty work on the dci, and they said the pads were 80% worn and the discs warped. Thought Id do them myself. Got the pads as I knew the discs were fine, came to change them and found they were probably only about 20% worn. Theyre still on the car 18months later (my mums now).

Had my first service back in may, was told that there was very little wear on the brakes! To say I was suprised was an understatement!

I got 76,000 miles(!) out of a set of discs and pads on my last car (Fiesta Zetec-S).

I dont quite expect that much out of the 182!

On my 3rd - i think - set of pads in 30k. Lot of this is down to trackdays though. Still it only takes 20 mins to change a set so its not a huge problem.

Well my old corsa is on its 3rd set of pads and 1st set of discs and it is almost 70K and i braked heavy sometimes

had new tyres fitted last night at 21700m on my 182- checked pads and had shed loads left on them

im still on the original brakes at 35k, but they are feeling VERY useless at the moment.

Well looking at all your mileages I dont think Im gonna need to change my pads.

As I said Renault indicated 50% worn when it was on 8500 miles so I was going on that wear rate that Id need to change on about 15,000 miles-ish.

Any definitive way of telling when they need changine, apart from taking to wheel off??? (thats probably a really sh*te question but on my last car I dont recall changing the pads until about 22000 miles but that was a 1.2 Clio)

Ive found with the 182 that you need to work the brakes hard if you want them to stay crisp and sharp. If you use them like youre trying to conserve the pads, they quickly feel as though theyre glazed. So Im using mine very positively recently, almost all the time - dont expect them to last too long.

24k (3yrs) out of mine, had to change the discs too because of corrosion on the inside surface.

Exhaust went at 25k!

I assume you guys who are changine pads with over 15k miles are just driving as normal! Not driving all delicate, judgine by that Ill leave my pads a bit longer.

I tend not to rag my car too much so I cant imagine they are gonna be that worn.
