have a go yourself, worse thing to happen is you muck it up and you then just take it to a bodyshop.

before i had only sprayed a set of rims, i made a few mistakes but all you have to do then is lightly sand down that layer and then try again
cost me about 50 quid to do the side and back strips, its obviously not bodyshop standard but i think it is good enough !

Did you go to a main dealer bodyshop because these will rip you a treat?
If the bodyshop was a smaller one and they quoted you £400 plus then they were probabley busy and did not need the work. Although £400 is taking the piss even for spoiler,door mouldings,door handles,mirrors.
that was 18months maybe even 2 years ago across 4 different independants. 1 said they wouldnt do it one said £400 and the others were all more than that. Bodyshops by me dont like doing it, or the one that did like doing them was a proper chav place that went bust because they ripped everyone off (so people didnt go) unless you knew them and then they did it at cost (so only those people went)
