how much to change rear shocks?

  clio 172
Morning,

My rear shocks are knackered feels like the cars trying to kill me! so bought a new set off wests off here, great service got sent to my local renault dealer same day. But now i just need to fit them anybody know anywhere around bedford? being quoted today 80 quid surely get it cheaper than that.

cheers Chris

About half a hours work. And you don't even need a jack.

1. Loosen and remove the top nuts and bush
2. Remove 18mm bolts from the bottom
3. Remove shock, ensure you take the bottom bush and have the metal collar as well.
4. Swap the bottom bush and collar onto the new shock and put it back in and through the hole in the turret.
5. If you have someone with you get them to nip the bush and nut onto the top of the shock to stop it falling back out.
5a. If you dont have someone with you make sure you keep the top of the shock through the hole and refit the 18mm

Ensure everything is tight. 5 and 5a are interchangeable order wise. Note, you don't need a jack, to remove a wheel, anything like that, really is about the easiest thing you can do to a clio.

Well done mate, give you more confidence for the next job.

How did you snap it Dave? Must've been mega mega tight, we fairly reguarly use a 2.5" breaker bar to get them started and they don't snap. Touch wood.

If I'm not jacking the car up and i remove the 18mm bolt from both the old shocks it won't crash down on me
