How scary??

Was on my way to work this morning, driving down the motorway, it was really heavy rain and even with my wipers on, it was really poor vision from all the lorries spraying etc, and what happens?? My drivers side wiper stops working! Absolutely sh*t myself, cos now I really couldn't see a thing!! I managed to pull over to the inside lane, but there was no hard shoulder or anywhere safe to pull over, so i basically had to carry on driving and lean over the passenger side to look through that side of the window, as this wiper was still going!! Must of looked like a complete idiot, and it was extremely dangerous, but i really didn't have another option!

Is this a common problem?? It happened the day I bought it too, but my boyfriend just tightened the bolts up and it was ok, but even if i took it to a dealers to get it sorted, i'll still be scared of it happening again!

You'll have to get some of the ThreadGrip stuff (or whatever it's called) to put on the thread of the bolt that you tighten the nut to!

Either that or invest in some RainX just in case!

Oh great, typical! Thing is I bought it through Carselect.co.uk, was worried that Renault might be a bit funny with me as I didn't buy it through their dealers?

I am goin to put rainex on my windscreen now it might help if that happens to me at least your ok and dint have an accident

Get onto your local dealer, I was told there was a re-call on a batch of cars owing to dodgy wipers.

Yup I've been told the same thing, dealer rekons its a recall on the wiper motor. Mines going in later in the week for it.

Well I rang up my local dealers this morning, and the woman was so unhelpful!! Told her briefly the problem, and she said I'd have to wait 2 weeks! I said can't it be squeezed in as obviously i cant drive it in this weather and i need it for work etc, but she was just very stroppy!! Rang up another dealers, quite a bit further away, and they couldn't have been more helpul! Was really friendly, said they were full this week, but they will squeeze me in thursday morning, and would then take me to work or drop me off somewhere as it wasnt so local. So hopefully am getting it sorted!

it might be an idea to coat the windscreen in rain-x, it is quite good. A little extra peice of mind for you too.

Wow, definitely investing in some of that then, where can you get it from, does places like Halfords sell it?

yea mondeo`s and the like have this stuff on as a standard coating and rain just peels off the screen, quite cool. supprised with all the pointless gadgets you get in the 182 that an important one like a rain-x type film couldnt have been applied especially seen as renualt wipers dont like working when its raining lol
mine did the same thing hehe had to stop

Happened to me twice, once was my old Renault 11, the bonnet flew up while doing 70mph down a hill. The other time was a golf, the heater matrix blew andmisted the windows. Both times i had to lean out of the window to see anything.
