How tell bad spray job?!

  Clio 172 Monaco
Okay so some drunk and driver decided to kiss my back bumper and it's left a dent in my back bumper and a mark down the middle were its removed paint work! My insurance would not let me take it to my own body shop with out me paying my excess of £300!!!! So decided to go with there body shop and I get a 5 year warranty on there work :)
So I was just wondering what to look out for on a bad job! And what I can do if I'm unhappy sorry if it's been asked before!! ps it's a Monaco 172 I also got told that they will more than likely replace my whole bumper thanks Caroline x

Make sure you check the car over and are 100% happy with it before you sign for anything or drive it away.

If you have doubts, take someone along with you who knows what they're doing.

I'm not sure if they would use 2nd hand?! It's not even that much of a mark it just needs a respray and a little filler I mean LITTLE so im quite shocked really :-/ I wouldn't of made the guys insurance pay but I only brought the bumper 2 months and go and got it sprayed less that 1 month a go so was really pissed off :-(

What he's saying is, don't go through insurance and just get the guy to give you £150 cash. £100 for a 2nd hand bumper and £50 to fit it.

Rather than effecting your insurance.

It's going to some repair company motofix in cirencester do you think if they do change my bumper they let me be cheeky and ask to have my old bumper too LOL!!

By the sounds of it, it's already in the hands of the insurance Daniel!

Just make sure everything matches nicely and there's no damage to the fresh bumper!

I did ask at the guy at the time about paying for damage and it would not need go in to insurance polices but basicly he didn't want give me his details to had get police involved :-/ and they got me his Reg and insurance and the guy then offerd me £20!!! At this point I was even more fuming! And he already told his insurance it was his fault :)

If the driver has admitted liability the you can take it to any bodyshop that use no fault claims,
This means that you wont have to pay you exess as they will pay it and claim it back and they will provide a courtesy car for you!
its you car and its not your fault and you can have it repaired where you like! hope this helps!

Yeah my insurance said they give me a replacement car while it's repaired ect and that I would have to pay my excess then they would repay me my excess after the work been done

So I was just wondering what to look out for on a bad job!

Orange peel effect in the paint (very ripely),

Sanding marks showing thorough the paint,

Poor masking resulting in over-spray on other parts,

Poor colour match ,

Specs of dirt/ bugs in the paint,

Paint reactions norm from cleaning/ silicone based products/ poor prep

all things i see quite often from ''repeatable'' places. pisses me off the lack of time and pride allot of people take

if you put it through a non fault accident management company you wont have to pay you excess and claim it back! also when you collect your car and your unsure if its been done correct put on the satisfaction note that you have to sign,Pending a second opinion! this will cover you and you can then have it inspected by any one then and if your not happy then you can then take it back and your covered!

It's going in insurance as the guy unwilling to pay me and can only offer me £20 he already phoned his insurance and took full blame :) and thank you all for the advice :)

  Dodgy one
If its going through the insurance you can take it to any bodyshop you like!

If its just a small indent and a scuff its doubtfull it'l get a new bumper on it too, It will be repaired. You will also get your excess back if it wasnt your fault as your insurance will pursue the claim for all costs

This doesn't sound right to me. Certainly didn't happen like this when someone hit me. I never spoke to my insurer at all. I called the shots, I decided where it went. No money was paid by me.

Well when I spoke to Dimond this is what I was told :-/ I've never had make a claim or ring them for a accident so I don't know how they work but when I spoke to them explained what happened ect I even have good evidence he did hit my car ;-) good old CCTV ;-) I was told as I'm 21 I would have pay my full excess to go to my own body shop or use there garage and get it free and 5 year guarantee so seemed a no brainer to me :) so I'm going to motofix accident repair and the guy I seen today said that I would prob be looking at a new bumper so I'm only going by what they have all told me and with any accident you should report it to ur insurance no matter if your the 1 who at fault? As you pay them to look after you so why do the running around when you don't need to? :)

they fit a bumper to whack the price up. hopefully no damage behind. look at the paint and the fit and the colour between the rear wings and bumper etc

Yeah sounds about right LOL I'm going be cheeky and ask my my old bumper if they do change it as it is only a tiny mark of paint removal :-/ so quick spray job and can keep it as spare or sell! :)
