How to adjust mileage clock (genuine reason)

  renault clio rl mk1
Hi guys, i own a mk1 clio 1.2 oasis. it is probably the most basic model you can get. it has no rev counter, and i've seen some on ebay which apparently just bolt right in (plug 'n' play style), however they have different milage on them from my car. can i adjust it so its the same as my current mileage?
thanks for any help!

You can send them off to some people who will do it for you. I forget who, but someone on here once gave me the name of a chap who matched my mileage when I put in some clocks with a trip computer :)

Best bet mate is to try find clocks with very similar mileage.

Although I'm sure it can be done, epsecially on a mk1. I'll ask a friend and get back to you.

Sorry for the hi-jack but anyone know if this can be done on the MK2? Even if it means taking them to stealers. Cheers

I know a guy that would clock a car and provide full service history to go with it. He's in the middle of doing 3 years now so I can ask him when he gets out in 2011??

Failing that, I once clocked my own (??!!) Cavalier SRI from 182,000 down to 92,000 overnight with a drill set on reverse and the handle selotaped in. Just take the speedo cable out of the gearbox, chuck it up tight in the drill and and set on reverse. Bingo bango bobs your monkhouse.

I stripped the clocks down off a escort once and just changed the dials to match the current mileage, that was the reason, not to play about with it.

I'm sure there is some program to change the digi dash's - just to make clocks match.

if you take the dials apart there is a ring on the end of the mileage that can come off and all the numbers slide off then can be put back to whatever mileage you want
