How to get normal wipers? Not using auto lights

Is there anyway way to get normal working wipers like on a poverty spec model?

I have a wiper stalk from a 172 cup that doesn't have auto lights but the first notch on the stalk still does nothing?

I was told that I could just fit this and it would work but nothing. It's just like the one I had before.

Help me please

Not sure on the answer to this but mine have done something strange.
Used to be rain sensitive on all settings. Used to annoy me because they didnt wipe fast enough sometimes, or sometikes to fast.
All of a sudden though now, the first setting is the same every time regardless of rain speed. Which i like.
Second setting is still rain sensitive.
Fk knows why but its better.

Cleaned the screen properly? Baby wipes most times don't cut it

Can't you disable auto wipers by flicking them on and off twice like the auto lights? I swear I read that once.
