How to remove handbrake cover

How do you remove the handbrake cover on a valver??? it says to prise it off in haynes manual but it wont come off for sh*t!!

i just tugged mine alittle and it came off!

i had to cut myn with a stnly knife down the middle but watch out cus the handle might fall out so have ur installation tape and cable ties ready....mine it and took me about a month to get it back in

i want to do this too but heard its hell on earth to sort it. Please lemme know how u get on. What r u fitting? gaitor and new handle?? r u getting an chrome base..?

theres a mettle bit inside with a spring for it to work? it might fall out!

Ive got a Richbrook handle and gonna get the gaiter later once i figure out how to get the handle off!!! The back plastic cover is easy it just pulls out but its the rubber handle im having trouble with. Mind you im not entirely sure the Richbrook handle ive got is correct one, its round and so is the button yet the button on original handle is square.

does anyone know if the phase three mk1 clios have different handbrake handls and buttons to the valvers? my button seems to be squarish aswell, and all handbrake covers are round, so does this little standard button come off to reveal a round metal button?

I think all the handbrake covers/buttons are squarish but when u take the cover off i assume it reveals that u can take the button off and attach a round one so you can put a round handle on there??? underneath the cover is just a bit of metal and its not the shape that the handle is
