How to reset a map without a tuner?

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
Possible?

Car is mapped using an RSTuner box and calibration file. I've since sold that box but my mate who now owns the car has asked if its possible to put the car back to original spec?

Just unsure how that would work.

I have the original ECU backup on my laptop. But he'd then have to buy another tuner to reinstall it.

I think. Bit of a pain.

Why the need to go back to the standard map out of interest?

In the problems thread the car is cutting out again when revs drop during warm cycle.

Mechanic thinks it could be an ECU sensor and has asked if the original map can be restored.

Although saying that it was cutting out prior to that.

Just think it's a ball ache having to spend another £200 or so for a tuner to restore the map.

Not only that, but even borrowing one won't work coz they are locked. Meh.

Would you not be able to unlock it though for a fee

If he borrowed it would need unlocked so could be used on the car, then he would have to stump up again to unlock it for the guy that he borrowed it off so they could use it on their own car again

Im confused, why would reverting the map help diagnose a sensor issue?

Surely it still plugs into CLIP etc absolutely fine, and the only thing changed is fueling etc?

Seems a bit pointless!

I agree. Makes no sense to me. The car was running fine for 7 months prior to this. It was then it was doing the same but I diagnosed it as a lambda fault which sorted it. Not this time.
