howe many processes should i have running?

when i press ctrl-alt-delete then go to performance it says i have

58 processes,
41%cpu usage
pf usage 412 mb

how can i get this down????

my pc seems really slow of late.

Stay away from ending System processes and most local service & network unless you know from what programes they originate

If you think, internet explorer may consume 30MB alone...plus background processes such as anti-viruses maybe using 80MB...windows alone could be using 200MB...it adds up quickly!

Most probably not, you will probably find windows dissapearing though, if you're playing solitaire or you're running worms or microsoft office...

USUALLY* (don't quote me) processes under your PC name/logon name will be things that YOU have started.

When you double click internet explorer to start it up...that is now YOUR process..
