HU that connects to an ipod

  DC5

As above. I am looking at buying a head unit that you can connect your ipod to.

Does anyone have any recommendations and where is the best place to buy it from?

If you buy any new head unit do you need to buy the adapter to get the stalk and display to work? Or does it depend on the head unit?

Cheers,

Matt

I know that the new Pioneer and Alpine units have pre-outs for ipods on them, my new pioneer does (deh-p70BT) but yes, you do need an adaptor too.

Hi Kelly,

I was wondering which adaptor did you buy(exact model) for your pioneer HU to work with the display and stalk in the clio?

Regards,
Kenn.

i bought a sony head unit, with a dension lead for myipod, this connects straight through the cd changer output,Only prob was cant get anadaptor on the 05 182 to work.but ipod is great.look at http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/ and http://www.caraudioplus.co.uk/http://www.caraudioplus.co.uk/, are the people i got the hu and ipod connection from, both great service.

You need one of http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3474&cadid=d9c111b298819e283c944307d3bed949these to get the steering stalk and dash display to work.

What are the ipod adapters like? are they just a wire that attaches the hu to the ipod, or are they fixed to the dash or something? i think if you just have a wire hanging about it will look a bit messy.

as was sayin had 2 autoleads that didnt work, anyway ipod connections depend what you want i went for the dension cradle kit rather than the dension docking kit,the docking one has just a wire so you can put the ipod in the glove box if you want, the cradle needs to have a bracket,eg dashmount etc to fit onto, this enables you to just click the ipod in and out just like you would a handsfree phone kit,the dension cable just needs a cd changer port and an audio input in the back to connect into, very self explanatory once you have the back of your head unit out, just make sure you get the dension cradle and lead for the corresponding HU you
