quick few questions for the lads on here that generally know about engines and hybrid builds ( no im not talking about eco bashing freindly combo's )
it has come to the point now were i want more power from my dCi unit, but after some research its come to the conclusion that,
A. i am limmited to 130 bhp due to injectors cannot handle anymore on these engines
B. clutch cannot take much more torque after topping the 110-120bhp mark ( easy fix , just an uprated clutch i pressume )
C. turbo's are slightly resticted, as is the boost/map sensor
D. internals... nobody really knows the ' limmits ' of anything such as con-rods or cylinder head components
before i go any thurther, you may ask why i would want to upgrade my dci engine instead of swapping to a more powerful unit,
its simply becuase i want to do this the fun way and learn a thing or two about these engines through modifying them
and changing units such as a 1.9 dci unit or 2.0 dci unit maybe more hassle to make it work in such small space
right questions!
1. how do i go about changing injectors for bigger cc version? ( currently no straight swap aftermarket kits )
2. hybrid turbo setups, how is this done and is it more rewarding than cranking up the boost on my current standard turbo ?
3. internals, ie con-rods , top end components, pistons ect... can i bore out the k9k 702 engine and fit bigger pistons, re work head to suit? arp rod bolts ?
4. will a VAG gearbox fit this engine with bellhousing modifications?
5. oil cooler, currently got a standard oil cooler on which uses coolant around it as an aid for warming up the engine... can this be changed for a oil rad non linked to cooling system??
and lastly
6. engine managment/running brain, easier to try map it on original ecu or go aftermarkets due to the better perameters and easy of changing stuff when parts get more modified?
sorry if this is abit boring to explain but any info will be greatly appreciated
cheers , raz
