Hydro2 and QD's

@gally @Scrooge

Despite having some reservations about Hydro2 I decided to give it a try today (got a small bottle for Christmas).

My reasons for being a bit apprehensive using it were because I saw what it did to JD's car and also because I'm still a detailing newb and I didn't want to f**k it up.

Anyway I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was apply and the results are triffic!

My question is what can I use on top of it after further washes. I've got some Prima slick QD that I haven't used yet, is that any good or how about AF tough coat? Or should I just buy some reload?

Oh yeah and can you use hydro2 on the windscreen? I didn't because I wasn't sure.

Thanks in advance

Ron

Glad you liked it dude. It's an amazing product.

It's not just JD who's seen the reaction that he had, I've had it twice. Both my reactions had the fact they were both waxed a week before.

I use it all over, on everything including windscreens. It beads epically on glass!

It works better on sealants tbh

You need reload.

Sonax BSD is just a QD isn't it? I've already got Prima slick so don't really want to buy another one if I don't have to.

Yeah I'm well impressed. I'll do the windscreen as well next time.

Ok I'm going to have to bite the bullet and purchase some reload aren't I lol

My bad. Read the title, skim read the post.

Hydro should do the job on its own tbh, I just thought you wanted a QD to finish it off

HydrO2 is incredible. Need to get me some more tbh. I've not had a severe reaction but sunlight really does f**k things up big time.

Even in the cold the sunlight really does cause streaking. Not very easy to remove tbh

Dave PM me your address. I'll send you 2014 Reload to try and if you like it you can order some. Wipe on wipe off.

Hydro is amazing stuff. I use way too much when spraying on. Wheels glass plastic. It'll coat anything.

Hydro will last 3 months easily so are you talking about using something after washing etc? Giving it that just waxed look? Prima slick will be great. Reload will top the protection.

Hydro is ideally used for speed. If you were going to wash dry and protect your car you would really use reload. I find it comes into its own in winter and especially for topping sealants where you can spend hours washing and drying and wiping products on and off in 2 degrees!

What happened to mine and jds car was that it reacted with the previous lsp and set as I've it wasn't rinsed correctly. JDs one was worse than mine though. Needing machine polishing

Never had the issue with reload tbh although the 2014 one can be a little more smeary but that because I don't dilute lol

Most modern spray sealants are lightyears ahead of TC. As good as it is.

I've had the spotting with hydr02 and with wetcoat, it's almost like small little water spots. And it's a pain to remove

Used on glass it works better than flyby30. Showed me just how much I wanted to go back to gtechniq G1

Should really need to use anything over hydr02 as it doesn't really need to be topped up, but should you want to is recommend a diluted gtechniq C2 or reload. They will help refresh the coating without overriding it's characteristics. 100ml bottle of C2 or 50/100ml reload would be good for diluting down as a QD

So @Scrooge that's interesting. I almost bought some before Xmas for the Zed as I've seen a couple of "didn't work over X product" stories, but having still got the bottle of pre'14 Reload, I want to try it again.
Glad it worked for you RDR.

What happened to JD and Scrooges cars?
Bsd is a QD but gives some protection and brilliant water behaviour.

page 5/6, but don't let this put you off. I think it reacted to a number of things;
- C2V3 underneath and thus perhaps beaded first of all when sprayed on
- didn't follow up with an open hose wash down to remove all signs of foam/run off
- it was quite a warm day

Also, Craig from CarPro was superb in his help, advice, provision of products (a panel wipe and then a new Reload bottle).

Craig said it was most likely a reaction with previous LSP or left on too long before rinsing iirc.

I don't think the left on too long is the case though.

Reacting to something, almost making it either dry too quickly or not wash off properly. Not a clue what.
