i’m thinking of a clio RT pics/rewiews

im thinking of getting a clio 1.4 RT as a first car. I have about £2k to play with, and currently have a 1.0 12v corsa B, which is a good car, but i fancy something different with a bit more poke and electric bits. Ideally i want a 3 door, average mileage, all the leccy bits and maybe power steering. Do u think i could get a good one for £2k ??? any pics at all ??????

Cheers for any help

Should be able to get a good one for that. Go for a phase 2 as they look slightly more modern than a phase 1, will have lower mileage, and dont have the girly headlights and more than slightly camp rear brake light of the phase 3. Ive just sold my RT and it was an excellent first car. Insurance was relatively cheap and most of my mates had 1.1s so i had a big power advantage! Just make sure you check all the electrics work first.

i got mine for £2250, it had full electrics, 42,000 miles, slight nicks here and there but nothing a touchup pen couldnt sort out! hehe! its also my first car! it rocks! nice n nippy! lol!

hope u find one!

click the link to av a look at mine! mods comin soon! theres a standard piccy and one wiv the mods im plannin! everything but the window tints coming nxt thursday! :D

i mean the corsa is a nice car, but it doesnt have any power !!! also it is the LS model, so doesnt have any twiddly bits that i would like. Also insurance would be less cos this cars valued at £3000, so would only probably have TPF&T insurance. Are they reliable cars cos the corsa is good in that repsect. Are they easy to get mods for ?? Loads of questions but they will all need answerin at some point !!!

I used to have a nice RT sold it recently for 3.8k bought it for 4.75k about 5 years ago so they hold there value. If you like the car ask some questions and ill try and answer if i can remember.

Easy to mod and still cheap to insure if you declare mods i should know
ticked all the boxes with Liverpool and victoria Insurance and still only paid
about £400 fully comp.

TTT anymore pics anyone ???? cos im slowly makin my mind up bout the car change cos the insurance is gonna set me back bout £1515 fully comp with alloys, lowering and exhaust backbox on a 1 LITRE !!! Now im sure i can get a clio insured cheaper maybe even TPF&T which aint an option with the corsa cos of the price of it. I need more convincin though, so, who has or had a 1.4 RT as a first car. Are they good and reliable ???

cheers peeps !!

I pasted my mums RT for 3 years - I mean seriously abused it - still starts everyday and the only problem its ever had is a bit of rust on the drivers side arch (sort it momma!) and a dicky window. Hardest 30k its probably ever seen as it was owned by an old bloke before the oldies got it.

Id recommend one really as I thought of all the standard 1.4s out there this was fair nippy.

Have to stiffen it though or youll think your a hamster in a wheel :D

I agree go for one. I have had mine for 2 years now, its my first car and it has been very reliable. Fairly nippy for a little 1.4 and very good for a first car.

Ive left mine standard as it look good as it is and im saving for another car. But they can be easily modded with alloys and lowering to look very good.

One last thing, they are good on insuance im 19 1 years no claims and pay £580tpft.

There is a Phase 3 in Naples Red for sale near where I work, its outside this place that does engine components.. I think its about £2300... Ill get some pics and post them up tomorrow if youre interested mate

Yeah, Ive given my RT a pretty hard time but the only things that have needed replacing have been brake components that have gone through wear. Does go alright for a 10 year old 1.4, and always starts first time etc. Ive fitted Apex suspension and 15s with 195/45 tyres and it handles like a go kart now. Would be nice to have power steering but thats an optional extra that mine didnt come with. Overall Id say theyre a good buy if you can find a good one with FSH. Be warned tho that most have a fair amount of interior rattles, check that the heater blower fan works ok on each setting, also check around the sunroof area for leaks. I dont know of any other common faults that go wrong with these cars. The clutch will feel a lot heavier than your corsa but theyre all like that.

yeah theyre great little cars.

I bought one as my 2nd car (had only been driving 6 months). Insurance is cheap (only group 5) and performance is respectable for a 1.4. Had it for 6 months now without any major probs. Had a thermostat go, new front pads and a few annoying rattles but apart from that very reliable. Like every1 else says, always starts first time :)

BTW, i agree with spirez. Definitely get a phase 2 or a phase 1, a phase 3 looks way to feminin and is prolly our ur price range anyways.

If u wanna know anything else drop us a pm

 Sadly I couldnt agree more But the Rsi gear ratios, slightly quicker engine, semi buckets and alloys have won me over! (Its a Sport mind)

I know 5 people with Clios ph1-3 and only one has had problems (Clutch cable snapped)
