ive got one on my bonnet too, made me wanna cry when i first saw it

o well, its only a stone chip, just peed me off a bit

I have a few too, you cannot avoid it unfortunately !

Also, I washed my car for the first time and noticed that the bottom of the front bumper was rough underneath and it looks like it has been scraped against something and a tiny patch of the paint is jagged. Nothing a K-tec carbon splitter wont fix tho !

:D

Dont worry about it, it is annoying but it WILL happen. No point getting upset over something you have no control over. If you feel that strongly about it, leave the car in your garage and never take it out, it will always be shiny then ! LOL !

chip stick is good but expensive.

get a HARD wax crayon in almost same colour (steal from Nursery School!) and nick across chips as if colouring a piccy.

polish after - works for about 6 weeks!

Proper chip stick from Renault is only about 7 quid.

Got some for the Cup - you get the clear laquer in the pack too.

Best bet is to patch up the existing chips and get hold of some clear self adhesive sheeting - protector stuff from Foliatec. You only need to do the leading edge of the bonnet as after 29k in the my Cup the only chips I had were on the more steeply raked front section.

yeah, i got one too on mine when it was 2 weeks old. was well pissed off and went down to reno to complain about the paint being too thin but they just said that thats the way its done now - they put more coats under the colour to make sure they meet the 5 years paint warrenty, but why the hell should i pay £295 for paint thats thin? They give me one of those chip packs free to make up. good colour match but my laquers gone a bit stiff and stringy.

does it work that colour match stuff, coz usually it looks terrible when you touch up with that tipex type stuff?

yes looks brilliant - official reno paint. What you do is put a little bit on with the brush, wet your finger and run it across the area with the chip. This smooths out the paint and stops the naff bubble up effect. you then use some METALIC t-cut which will remove the excess paint from the rest of your paintwork. you may need to do this a few times and then apply the laquer which i didnt do cos mines gone tar-like.

the wax crayon is temporary, but V. QUICK and saves all the fuss.

ideal if you get a nu chip till you have time to do fussy paint, lacquer & t-cut stuff.
