One of my keys needs to be replaced, I found out yesterday it's £80 something for the actual key and then it's another £40 for the programming work for the immobiliser thingy.
£120 minimum!!! :(

I guess if it's in working order it might be possible, would save the £80 at least!!

You can buy a fob off ebay for about £5-10 but you'll still need the key cutting. As with most things, i got my 2nd key and fob from Renault when i was in France and it was like €60 or something :)

Renault in Calais might be worth a call next time you go over. In fact it may be the same price to get a the Eurostar over, order a key and come back home!

Id be more worried that the other person might have the key and come and take the car back. Not to worry you or anything!

I thought that at first, but surely the two keys would be different if it's programmed or cut, and the original wouldn't match your car if someone tried to use it. After all they match the key to the car, not the other way round. :S

I'm completely confused now!

What I meant was the key that originally came with his car.

But if you get a new key, they wont re-code the key you already have, so the codes would have to be the same?

They would have to re-code the car for it to not work anymore.

So cheap there? I just had the car fitted with 2 keys and it cost me 750£ with 20% discount. The part that cost the most was the immobilizer decoder which was about 380£.

I get it now!! Not really with it, thought we were still talking about getting second hand keys, not the person selling a car with only one key and keeping one!!

You cannot resuse keys they need to be blank most of them on ebay are programme for another car so are usless unless you own that car.
