I hated leaving my baby behind.

  Clio 1.6 16v Dynamique +
I have just taken my car in to have an alarm, new head unit and a 6 cd multi changer fitted. I really hated walking away from her, and the worst part was when one of the guys got in her and drove her into the workshop. Seeing someone else drive my car (even though a small distance) did not make me feel good at all.

I know they will look after her and I know they will do an excellent job, but when I came home and saw my driveway empty I felt awful! I am hoping the day will go by pretty quickly as I have another car to work on today, so maybe that will take my mind off of it. You can call me daft if you wish, but I am missing her already and she's only been gone for 30 mins! lol

 'Just a car'? She's not 'just a car' to me, as without her I would be virtually grounded. I do get very attached to my cars, even more so with this one. I guess it is becuase I'm a soft hearted WOMAN! ;) lol

its the hand-brake turns on the rear car park you really want to worry about

They haven't got a large car park near them to do that, it's a 'small' specialist centre, so I know that won't be happening. :rasp:

bit bizzarre.... your choice to have it in the workshop...

I love my car, but I'm not that emotional lol... you'll have to get used it to it for the renault visits or what have you...

I know what you mean, I hated it when I was DRIVEN by a Renault Technician when he was trying to listen for the problem i'd reported, he drove it very carefully tho! :D

I guees being a Woman makes me more emotional about it. It seems us women very much feel a part of our cars. I think most men class them as their toys and as long as they don;t get damaged can quite easily see it go away for a while.

I know it was my choice to have it done, I felt the alarm was an absolute must (bearing in mind what else will be done to her soon), but it doesn't stop 'me' worrying. Daft I know, but there you go.

As for her going to a Renault dealer for fixing (if need be), NEVER ever again! I don't trust Renault one bit, I take her to my local 'trusted' garage.

yeah I take mine to a Renault specialist.... class

I think men are just as attached to their cars tbh....

i agree that's rather OTT! at the end of the day it's a CAR lol, yeah we all take care of our cars etc and don't like others driving, but theyre hardly something to get emotionally attatched too :/ lol.. it's just another clio to the garage i'm sure and you'll have it back soon :)

I know my Hubby is pretty attached to his Megane, he gets furious is someone puts s scratch or dent in it, and rightly so. I do think though some guys won't admit to 'loving' their cars as much as us women, as they don't exactly class it as the 'macho' thing to do. lol

not really.........^^^^^^^ someone1 hit my door with theirs , got rather emotional
or angry
im not saying emotionally attatched in that sense! if someone damages your car; of course you're gonna be angry!
i'm saying it seems OTT to be emotionally attatched in the sense you're missing the cars absence on the drive for a few hrs..

I know I am probably being a little over sensitive, but this is the first time my car will have been away for a whole day in the 3 years I have had her.
The garage she goes to for servicing and where she had her mot are excellent. I know them personally as well, so that helps, and if I like they will let me stay whilst they work on her, and on various occasion I have even helped them work on my cars, which is really cool.

He he :)

Was just wondering what year your car was debz?

Reason I ask is, it says "Dynamique+" at the side (under your avtar) and they were supposed to have alarms already fitted.

Mines an early 2003 1.6 and doesn't have one.

Well yeah I totally agree, but lets face it, what is there to dislike about a Clio? Yes we all know they can be tempremental, and some have had more hastle than others, but at the end of the day we still love them and would rather pay out to have them fixed than get rid of them.

Mine's a late 03 1.6, but it is an import and although it is a UK spec car, was not fitted with an alarm, hence why it needs one.

Aaaah, Group 8 insurance and VVT then :)

Earlier ones (2002 and before) we're group 10, same spec and an alarm, strange!!

It's a sod trying to keep something mint when you have to use it to get to work!!

It's nice to see a very well kept standard car tho, not enough of it these days IMO, too much modding going on (jesus i'm sounding old!!lol)

  Vee dub
I know exactly what you mean... now I can keep it for nice sunny weekends etc...

I'm even used to the tape player now after 2 years! ;)
