I spun the bullet

Had a very lucky escape this evening. I was on my way back home with my sister in the car after snapping a pot hole my girlfriend hit earlier today. I approached a large motorway junction roundabout at about 40mph, saw there was nothing coming so turned onto the roundabout. As I did so the back end just let go. A little sideways I thought, nothing to worry about but it just kept on going. I ended up doing a full 360 then mounting a small kerb backwards and hitting the railings.

I was so suprised at the severity of the spin, I was possibly travelling slightly too quickly but couldn't understand what had happened. Then I realised that I had left the handbrake half on. D'oh.

The only damage is a couple of marks on the bumper which needed painting anyway and the exhaust has been pushed back under the bumper which I'm sure I can repair.

The incident was totally my fault but has been a good lesson for me and I am so glad no one else was involved.

It just goes to show, not even ABS can save you.

I don't understand all these people that rattle on about losing the back end in a front wheel drive car. You have to be driving like a complete c**k for the back end to go completely in fwd... saving on ice.

Erm if the handbrakes on, the rear wheels are going to lock and therefore slide.....
