I.T Apprenticeship

  A3 1.8T
Leading on from the previous “i.t jobs” thread I thought I would start an apprenticeship one.

Basically looking at finding an apprenticeship but don’t have a clue on where to start and to make it worse not really sure on what side of i.t (Networking, software etc) Has anyone got any links on finding some apprenticeships?

Thanks

You need to look into it further, speak to your local LSC (Learning & Skills Council) they should be able to advise/guide you in the right direction, not all of them are £40 a week.

It normally £40 plus travelling expences. Up to a maximum of £80. Well, that's what it was 10 years ago.

Things have changed lol as you would expect them to in 10 years .. depending on the company you could get something along the lines of a £12k+ salary .. I dont know the full details but im just trying to say dont write it off as times have changed.

lol, bit of a sweeping statement. It really depends on what you do and your area of specialisation

As Jesus says, being serious I would not consider myself being underpaid. Maybe under paid by other standards but due to the lack of jobs in the area it isnt bad at all.

General jobs worth IT gimps fixing peoples Office suite are underpaid as its an EASY job, get into Exchange and server roles and the wages will go up

Do an AutoCAD NVQ and get involved in Structural/Civil Engineering. There are roughly 3 jobs to every applicant currently and you can basically choose your salary because of it

Well true.
Persoanlly i think im underpaid. My roll is 3 in 1 really... support/network manager/Server admin. so ill do anything from fix someones office apps (lol) to planning and implementing a new network and domain and bulding servers.
gives a nice mixture i have to admit, but im a little jaded with IT these days.

Team leaders in IT where I work are on £35k minimum, department managers earn around £40-50k+ and networks team members are on £26k starting basic, most are on £30+ and with double time every weekend most are on £45k+... I think you are working for the wrong company mate if that's the case... I'd think about leaving.
