Idle low on hot start

Hello guys, got a problem with my 1.4 clio. When I start it from cold the rpm is at around 750 on a cold start then it jumps up to about 1200-1500 rpm then it eventually settles back down to 750 rpm. However if I go for a drive and go to start the car the rpm is at around 300 and theres also a knock from the engine when this happens so I have to rev it a bit. Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be?

After a bit of searching I took the throttle body off today and found it to be full of carbon which was cleaned and has fixed the problem. Seems more responsive too.
