Idling Problems

  clio 1.2
I was wondering if anyone can help... i have searched the forum but i havent found anything of use...

When i first start my car up it revs to 10-15k as if i have put my foot on the throttle, then it idles really low between 5-700... im wondering if its normal or should i take it back to the place i brought it from? (as i have 3 months warrenty)

I might sound silly but i have never owned a renault before lol... i drove around in a corsa for 3 years.

If the car is still under waranty then yes, take it back and get them to check it over.

It could be the coil pack or the spark plugs perhaps but that's just off the top of my head :)

think you might mean 1-1.5k.
most clios are pretty bad on idle, but if you know anyone who can give it a quick look over, worth it before taking it to any garage etc.

If the revs hit 1-1.5k at the initial turn off the key and then settles to 700-800rpm then I wouldn't worry about it mate but if it starts and stays on 1-1.5k for time before settling back down then still don't worry, just take it back to the garage and get them to check it over under your warranty.

yes i did mean 1-1.5k u was in a rush this morning and on my way to work lol.

My other half said he is going to look it over... and he just told me that the air box might be lose or something... as it makes a hissing noise when you rev it from under the bonnet...

I just hope it isnt anything to bad :)
