Idol mode?? 2000rpm problem!

So i was just driving home from the gym, going up the flyover bridge in Poole town, when my service light, traction control light and another light (a square with funny lines in it) all came up at once, the engine - which was warm - was limited at 2k rpm, no more, no less...

so i managed to get to the end of the bridge, pull over in a local car park. switched off. waited, started up again, and it was fine?!?!

its a 182...

any suggestions??

Sounds like a throttle pedal fault, they arnt that much to change.
