If your tv is hd ready but NOT 1080p, if you add sky hd is it now 1080p?

No, because SKY HD is only 1080i anyway.

If your TV is HD ready, then it will only show a maximum resolution of 1366×768, doesn't matter if the source is broadcasting in 1080P (Full HD). So no, it won't show it in 1080P, you'll need a TV capable of it in the first place.

As said, if your TV is only HD ready at the moment the only way to make it full HD is to buy a new TV, no hardware will change that fact.

I thought Sky transmitted a 720p signal and 1080p was only needed if you have Blu Ray or similar.
