If you're having fan/overheating problems..

  Clio 172 Cup
Just discovered a slight design fault which caused my fan to stop working. Checked it was ok by connecting straight to the battery and checked relay was ok, checked fuses etc. so I was baffled why it wasn't working.
If you remove the air box, underneath is a bunch of wires and a water pipe, on mine (172 cup) the pipe had been rubbing against the wires and had rubbed away the protecting plastic and so some of the wires were bare and eroding. If there's a small pinky coloured one that is broken - that is why the fan won't work. just cut out the eroded bits, solder in a fresh bit of wire and pv tape it to an inch of it's life and I managed to cable tie the water pipe to part of the chassis so it shouldn't rub so probs worth giving that a go.

Maybe this is a rare reason for the fan to stop working but I couldn't find any reasons that I hadn't thought of on here after many searches so thought this might be useful to someone somewhere :)
