IK vs PANEL FILTER

In general:

Panel filter for slight gain in performance.. if any

Open IK for slight losses (sometimes) but awesome noise

Proper sealed IK for less noise but slightly more gains than panel filter

All need extra cold air to have a hope of giving you a couple of extra horses.

Gains will be minimal on a 1.4 so youre better off doing something that gives you a throaty noise, and doesnt actually lose you power - like an unshielded open IK can. - Drill the standard box in a good location and put in an uprated panel filter. Add to this a cold air feed, and youll have extra noise and possibly small gains for approx £30.

because ive pai £120 for a ramcharger IK and ive bin waiting 4 weeks for it, and they say its gona b another week .

im thinkin of soddin it and just go for a green air panel filter

If it was me Id cancel it and go the drilled airbox, cold air feed and panel filter route. (ITG) Nowhere near as noisy - either a good or bad thing depending on what youre after. (But still a good throaty noise)

Sounds like theyre taking the piss on the delivery time - so cite that as the excuse.

yeh sumthing to do with them having to make a part because they cudnt get any from their supplier ( k-tec racing)

where abouts do u have to drill your airbox in the newer clios ???

The Cups airbox did a good job shielding the heat from the engine bay and was located just to the right of the engine near the battery. So the ideal area on that was to the right away from the hot air.

Find a place pointing away from the engine - drill a couple of large holes there (making sure you drill below the filter so no crap can get in the engine) I would put in a small heatshield to block off any engine heat that may get round the standard airbox if you need to, that will create a sort of little cold air chamber when the bonnet is closed. Then direct your cold air feed pipe to this area - pointing at the holes youve drilled. Done. (You could even cut the whole of one side of the airbox away if its not loud enough)
