illustrator > PDF issue

hi,

im saving a business card out for print. I have some text which has been converted to outlines, and has an outer glow effect. but when i save it as a PDF the effect doesn't show. Am i doing something wrong?

just noticed, Its only in Preview (on a mac) that the effect doesn't show, but in adobe acrobat professional it does. I assume that this effect will show when its going in for print then?

Print out some separations and check it is on there.

How did you pdf it, saved straight out of ai or distilled in acrobat ?

i just saved it straight out, from save as. I dont have a printer hooked up atm.

I find I get better results saving it as a postscript file and distilling it, seems to rasterize the effects better and make smaller files sizes. Though to be honest some of those photoshop style effects seem to just cause hassle at times.

ok cheers, I dont have distiller installed, thought i did. ah well. I will get the printers to check its OK before they go ahead. strange why preview didnt show the effects and acrobat did.
