Clio 1970000000
Picked up my Clio 197 today and have already done 150 miles (40 of them was because I went the wrong way home from picking it up:S)
I was a bit worried as this was my first french car. I normally buy German or Jap but the build quality seems fine. There is a dodgy light in the dash and a rattle in the passenger door that are being done under warranty tomorrow but none of this matters as the car is such good fun.
I have had 200bhp for many years (turbo or vtec) and was worried that the clio would feel slow, especially as many reviews say that the car is quick but doesn't feel it, but the engine is a gem. Not much below 3000rpm, then it comes alive and by 6000 rpm we are in the zone. Having owned a CTR, I found it very easy to get used to driving the clio.
And here is the intersting bit, I was thinking of getting a CTR Premier (the best engine & gearbox combo in the world unless you have very deep pockets, bomb proof build, Recaros etc etc etc) but do not have a single regret. I love the looks of the 197 (I did get it in the best colour...Nimbus Grey) and even more than that, I love the rarity of it. I have only seem 2-3 other 197s and 1 200 around. I love the standard seats and all the other toys that make driving it an experience.
I took the kids out in it this afternoon and they love it too (faster daddy, faster:S:S:S).
I am converted
